Life Groups

Volunteer Profile: friendly, relational, teacher or host

Life Groups are an integral part of what we do at CHCC. We believe that sustained life change occurs as we are growing in a relationship with Christ, which often happens through relationships. Life Groups provide the opportunity to grow in Christ, connect to others, and serve others. Paul taught the Corinthians that some plant the seeds, and others water them, but God makes them grow (1 Cor. 3:6). Life Group hosts and leaders have the privilege of creating environments in which seeds of faith are planted and watered. Hosts

If you have the gift of hospitality, becoming a host may be a good option for you. As a host of a Life Group, you would be in charge of organizing a meeting place and something small for the group members to eat. If you decide to allow the group to meet in your home, pets are expected to be in a separate area during group time. Once the members have arrived, it would be your job to welcome them and see to any needs they may have during their visit. Outside of the Life Group meetings, hosts are expected to attend mandatory meetings.

Leaders

As a leader of a Life Group, you are expected to help group members grow through Bible study, prayer, service, and the building of relationships. The best way to do this is to create a family atmosphere. During each meeting, leaders facilitate the meeting, monitor its health and duration, and promote participation among members. Leaders are also expected to invite and encourage members to invite others to the group, as well as, set up times for their Life Group to serve together throughout the year. Outside of the Life Group meetings, leaders should communicate with church leadership about the group and attend leadership meetings.

To be in the best position to lead a group, individuals should have a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, recognize the Bible as the authority for living, be a member or regular attender of CHCC, and have the time, emotional capacity, and moral discernment to lead a group. Life Group experience is preferred, but not required.
