Online Church

Each week we will create an online worship service for the Castle Hills Christian Church family.

With: With Hope

July 13, 2025

Sermon Notes:

A wish seeks to suspend reality, hope exists within reality.

“If there were nothing eternal in a man, he could not despair.” Soren Kierkegaard

Hebrews 11:1 NIV

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Godly hope is confident expectation.

Hebrews 6:16-20 NIV

People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

When hope in God is our anchor, we aren’t limited to wishing the storm away.

Psalm 69:1-3 NIV

Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.

I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold.

I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me.

I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched.

My eyes fail, looking for my God.

Psalm 69:34-36 NIV

Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them,

for God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah.

Then people will settle there and possess it;

the children of his servants will inherit it,

and those who love his name will dwell there.

There is no chaos in your life over which God cannot take control.

“In other words, it is not our circumstance or behaviors or radical decisions that give our lives meaning and hope, but our unity with God himself.” Skye Jethani

Hope is a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul.

How to anchor in a storm:

1. Analyze your surroundings

2. Dive on your anchor

Matthew 7: 24-27 NIV

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.

3. Have anchor faith

“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” John A. Shedd
